Subtext Plugins

Subtext 2.0 introduces a new exciting feature: Plugins.

What is a plugin? A plugin is a piece of software that can be "plugged" into the core blogging engine to extend it.

This allows users and 3rd party developers to easily add new features without the need to download the source of the complete blogging engine, hack inside the code and recompile everything.

At the moment the Plugin SDK (codename Red Moon) is still in pre-release version, but the API are pretty stable, so developers that want to start building a Subtext plugin can do it now.

There is a tutorial on how to write a subtext plugin the documentation section of this site, and more articles and docs will become available in the next weeks, so, if you are interested, come and check this website again, or subscribe to the RSS feed of Simone Chiaretta, aka CodeClimber, the member of team responsible for the Subtext Plugin SDK: he will post an update on his blog as soon as more docs become available on this site.

  • The Core Plugins page lists all the plugins that will be shipped as part of Subtext
  • The Repository lists all the plugins developed by the community of Subtext users
  • Documentation contains a collection of all tutorials, API docs, external blog posts on how to write subtext plugins
  • If you have problem developing or installing your plugin, in the FAQ you could find an answer to your problems
  • and if still you can't find an answer to your questions or problem, contact me, I'll be happy to help with custom plugin development
